This year’s National Specialty will be held as a concurrent specialty along with 4 days of all breed shows at the Cranberry Cluster at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in beautiful E. Falmouth, MA. This offers us the National Specialty plus 4 Supported Entry days equaling 5 AKC shows in 4 days.
In addition, the ABC will also offer Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes at the National Specialty and will support the Beauceron entry all four days of the cluster.
The cluster also offers four days of Obedience and Rally, two days of National Owner Handler Series, two days of special Puppy Group Competition, and new this year, Dock Diving.
The ABC will also be holding a Journée du Beauceron. We are very pleased to have two very distinguished judges from the French Beauceron club, Club des Amis du Beauceron (CAB). Mme Katerine Couteau will be judging morphology, and M Guy Bonnefoy will be judging temperament (see separate flyer for more information on the French judges). We will be offering judge’s education and breeder seminars.
September is a wonderful time to visit beautiful Cape Cod, with their many dog friendly beaches, and of course, the abundance of fresh seafood at the local restaurants.
The American Beauceron Club is excited to announce this year’s distinguished Journée judges panel who will be judging the Beauceron in the United States for the first time.
Morphology Judge (conformation)
We are excited to welcome licensed Club les Amis du Beauceron (CAB) judge Mme Katerine Couteau. Mme Couteau has been involved in the breed since 1965, and started breeding in 1977. She first became a Beauceron judge in the 1980’s, and has since judged the breed at many prestigious events including the World Dog Show, and several Best Male and Best Female competitions at the Nationale d’Elevage (the French Beauceron National Specialty). Mme Couteau has held numerous positions within the French breed club, including President. We are honored to have her come and judge our breed this year and we are equally excited that she will be directly working with our judges and breeders to teach the finer points of the breed and how our dogs should be evaluated.
We are equally excited to welcome CAB licensed temperament judge M Guy Bonnefoy. M Bonnefoy has been a member of the CAB since 1980 and a Beauceron Temperament Judge for the CAB since 1983. He has been selected to judge the Nationale d’Elevage on numerous occasions as well as many Regional Specialties. He has held various positions within the CAB including Président de la Commission d’élevage, Membre de la Commission d’Utilisation, and has been a CAB Committee Director since 1992. He has owned and bred numerous French Champions and Vice-Champions as well as dogs who have achieved titles in Ring, Tracking, Herding, Obedience, Agility and Search and Rescue dogs serving their communities throughout Europe.
This is a unique opportunity for anyone wanting to learn more about the Beauceron breed. Come to beautiful Cape Cod and learn from these highly-respected guardians of the breed. In-ring mentoring for AKC judges and breed seminars will be offered for those who are interested. Join us for this momentous occasion to see what makes this breed so special and unique.
Watch for more information in the upcoming months. But for now, save the dates!
